Baby Shower Gift Ideas

You've just got invited to a baby shower. Besides for who, the first thing we all think about is what are we going to give that baby. Some of us just have to be practical all the time. We give clothes, diapers and bibs. But we all know that this little baby coming into the world deserves something extraordinary. We want to give something that will out shine all the other "practical" gifts. Yes, no matter how much we deny it, the baby gift is like a status symbol. Who can give the best gift, the cutest gift, the gift that mom-to-be keeps looking at and holding. Do you want to know the secret to giving that kind of a gift? Yes the yesteryears are back. Giving from the past is like giving a gift from a beloved grandparent. Isn't that what having babies is all about? Remembering where we came from and where we are going; giving to the next generation from the last. The new trend in baby gifts include retro prints such as little cowboys, cute little girls in their pig tails and other 40's and 50's inspired designs. Also popular are the big, bright and bold patterns of the 60's and 70's. Baby blankets are donning piece symbols and mod geometric patterns. There are other ideas to consider also. Some of my favorite gifts as a receiving Mom, were gifts that were for both baby and me. I enjoyed things to wrap my brand new precious gift in, and something to help me through those first few weeks of seemingly endless days. Those of us who have had babies know what a shower does. It gives to you when you need it most. It is an uplifting party during some of the hardest days of pregnancy and birth. Moms love to get things for their babies. It reminds them just how much their babies are going to be loved. However, moms do love to get things for themselves too. During the first year of life, mom adjusts to this new bundle. She scours the baby isles at the store, buys every new fangled item for baby. But mom forgets about herself. Before you know it, she is using the baby's lotion to sooth her dry hands. She resorts to the baby's shampoo, because she forgot to get some for herself. So, before you take that wonderful, one of a kind gift to the shower, make sure and add some great stuff for mom too. She is definitely going to need it.
